Fundamentals of Hearing: A Workbook, William A. Yost, Academic Press

A workbook and CD-ROM will be available in 2000 along with the fourth edition of Fundamentals of Hearing: An Introduction. The workbook will contain a set of questions and problems along with answers to accompany the sixteen chapters of the textbook, Fundamentals of Hearing: An Introduction. The workbook will also contain some instructional hints and suggestions of selections from the Acoustical Society of America's CD of Audio Demonstrations that are appropriate for each chapter in the textbook. A CD-ROM will be included with the workbook. The CD-ROM will contain:

1. All of the figures in the textbook in *.gif or *.jpg format.
   
2. PowerPoint slide show files (*.pps) containing the figures for each chapter in the textbook.
   
3. Text files with all of the data used in the book in a format compatible with wordprocessors and spread sheets.
   
4. A "toolbox" of MATLAB programs (*.m files) for generating and analyzing acoustic waveforms.
   
5. Three Windows 95, 98 or NT executable programs for generating and displaying sound waveforms, generating and analyzing simulated neural data from an auditory nerve input/output function (creating tuning curves and response areas), and performing psychophysical experiments with sinusoidal sounds.
